State agencies; payments; cryptocurrency
Summary
This bill allows Arizona state agencies to accept cryptocurrency (such as bitcoin and ethereum) as payment for fines, penalties, taxes, fees, and other amounts owed to the state by entering into agreements with cryptocurrency service providers. The bill specifies that these service providers must convert cryptocurrency to U.S. dollars or other legal tender, and allows agencies to either cover transaction fees or pass them to the person paying with cryptocurrency. The payment remains the payer's liability until the state agency receives final payment in legal currency from the cryptocurrency service provider.
